In an effort to be more sustainable, a building will focus on reduced energy, water, and waste, and will be responsible in their site and material selections. As these practices become more commonly understood, we can stretch beyond and ask: ‘What else does it take for a building to be truly sustainable?’ We will only start to redefine our relationship to our resources if we are motivated by a passion that is awakened through profound beauty. Truly resilient and regenerative design recognizes this undeniable truth.
What is beauty and where does it meet performance? How do we move beyond a conversation about metrics? Can a project be sustainable without also being beautiful? Through beautiful and integrated architecture, engineering, and interior design that considers occupant experience at the forefront, we can nurture a physical connection between humans and their built environment.
