He regularly speaks and consults with companies, both large and small, about how to develop practices and systems that lead to everyday brilliance. Leadership Award of Excellence Honoree: David Burney
David Burney, is Chair of the Center for Active Design.The Center supports public health by increasing opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating through the design of the built environment. The Center was established in 2012 as one of the key initiatives to emerge from New York City Mayor Bloomberg’s Obesity Taskforce. Building on work by the New York City Departments of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Design and Construction in using environmental transformation to improve health outcomes, the Center is tasked with conducting outreach and training to ensure widespread implementation of strategies from the Active Design Guidelines. He is also an Associate Professor of Planning and Placemaking at the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Programs for Sustainable Development and Planning.
