Alpha Workshops’ Founder and Executive Director, Kenneth Wampler, leads us through the renowned bespoke finisher's renovated studios and atelier, along with the esteemed design team behind the transformation, Etienne Coffinier and Ed Ku, of Coffinier Ku Design.
Founded in 1995, Alpha Workshops is the only not-for-profit organization in the country that trains and employs people who are living with HIV/AIDS in the decorative arts. Alpha Workshops has been an industry pioneer, developing a unique training curriculum and providing a supportive workplace that is responsive to the needs of people living with chronic illness.
Decorative arts classes are taught at Alpha's Studio School, which is licensed by the NY State Department of Education. Alpha Workshops also runs a highly regarded design studio, staffed completely by artisans who graduate from the school's advanced program. The studios are known for hand-painted wallpapers, on-site custom painting, venetian plaster, decorative finishes, gilding, and site-specific artwork.
