ABOUT ABOUT
NEW MANDATED NEW YORK ENERGY CODE

ENERGY CODE AND LIGHTING - AS OF DECEMBER 28, 2010 DESIGN PROFESSIONALS ARE NOW RESPONSIBLE

As of Dec 28, 2010 all electrical work needs to conform to the new NYSECC - whether or not a building permit is obtained.

This affects both residential and commercial work and is the first time that the energy code impacts lighting selections for residences. There is no longer a “50% rule” in the code – almost all projects need to comply.

This presentation will discuss what conformance means in a practical sense and is a guide to what you need to know to conform with with new regulations. There will also be a review of the Federal Legislation and which lamps will be phased out over the next few years.

Organized with the AIA New York Chapter Building Code Committee.

MODERATOR:
Steven Zirinsky, AIA New York, Co-Chair Building Code Committee.

SPEAKERS:
Jack Bailey, Partner One Lux Studio.
Jack served on Mayor Bloomberg’s Green Codes Task Force, and was responsible for drafting the lighting requirements in the ICC’s new International Green Construction Code.
